Dubai unveils world’s largest 1.97-tonne silver bar to mark UAE founding year
DMCC leads innovative tokenisation of global precious metals assets
DUBAI – DMCC, the leading international business district driving Dubai’s global trade, has unveiled the world’s largest silver bar – a record-breaking 1,971kg asset officially recognised by Guinness World Records.
The unveiling took place during the Dubai Precious Metals Conference (DPMC) earlier this week. Measuring 1.3 metres in length, the bar commemorates the founding year of the United Arab Emirates, symbolising national ambition, craftsmanship and innovation.
World’s largest silver bar
The silver bar will soon undergo a pioneering tokenisation process through DMCC’s Tradeflow platform, marking the first time a Guinness World Record precious metal bar is tokenised under a regulated framework.

This landmark project brings together leading industry players, including UAE-based precious metals refiner Sam Precious Metals, Tokinvest – a VARA-regulated digital tokenisation platform – and Brink’s, which will oversee secure storage and logistics.
Tokenisation innovation
DMCC’s initiative aims to advance commodities tokenisation while enhancing transparency, traceability and legal certainty in global precious metals markets. Tokinvest will register the silver bar on DMCC Tradeflow, the UAE’s premier online system for registering and pledging commodities. This ensures robust oversight and a trusted environment for fractional ownership, subject to regulatory approvals.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said: “The 13th edition of the Dubai Precious Metals Conference has been marked by new records, highlighted by the unveiling of the world’s largest silver bar. This initiative reflects DMCC’s broader mission to connect trade, commodities, finance and technology, demonstrating how physical assets can be digitised and accessed through trusted and transparent frameworks.”

He added that collaborations with VARA, Sam Precious Metals, Tokinvest and Brink’s reinforce Dubai’s position as a global benchmark for practical, investable and regulated real-world asset innovation.
Scott Thiel, Co-Founder and CEO of Tokinvest, highlighted the project’s significance: “Tokenising a Guinness-record-breaking bar of silver, weighing 1,971kg to mark the formation of the UAE, is not only an honour but a milestone for the entire RWA industry. Precious metals have traditionally been a trusted store of value, but access has been limited. This project brings a globally significant artefact into the hands of everyday investors, making real-world assets more accessible, transparent, and borderless.”

Sami Abu Ahmad, Chairman of Sam Precious Metals, emphasised the bar as a celebration of craftsmanship, innovation and the UAE’s ambition. He noted that tokenisation transforms a national symbol into a digital asset, representing the next evolution of precious metals investment and opening new opportunities for global trading.
Strategic partnerships
This tokenisation follows DMCC’s strategic collaboration with the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA), aimed at developing secure and scalable frameworks for tokenised commodities. Together, DMCC and VARA are running pilot projects across gold, diamonds and other physical assets while advancing investor education and market awareness. Data sharing and sector analysis will also inform future regulatory policy.
With over 1,500 companies in its precious metals ecosystem and more than 700 Web3 and blockchain firms in its Crypto Centre, DMCC is uniquely positioned to lead the next wave of asset-backed digital instruments.
